Step-by-step installation guide for VitalKeep at home.

What’s in the box

  • 1 Vitalkeep wristband, already paired with your account.
  • 2 or 3 smart plugs, depending on the kit you chose.
  • 1 magnetic charger for the wristband (USB-C cable).
  • Card with your home activation code.
  • Printed quick-start guide.

Before you start

  • Have the WiFi name and password of the home where it will be installed at hand.
  • Make sure the wristband has charged for at least 30 minutes (steady green LED).
  • Download the Vitalkeep app from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the account you created at purchase.

Step 1: the wristband

Take it out of the box and put it on — or wear it yourself first to confirm it lights up when you press the side button. Press once: you’ll see a blue blink. That confirms it’s active and communicating.

The wristband comes pre-paired with your account, so there’s nothing to register. When you put it on your relative, adjust the strap so it’s comfortable but not loose.

Step 2: the plugs

Place one plug in each key room: kitchen, bedroom and living room are the basics. If you have a 3-plug kit and the home has a large bathroom or long hallway, prioritise bedroom and kitchen, and place the third where your relative spends most time.

For each plug:

  • Plug it into the wall. The front LED will blink white: it’s waiting for WiFi.
  • In the app, go to Settings > My plugs > Add.
  • The app will detect the plug automatically. Select it.
  • Enter the home WiFi. The LED will turn steady blue once connected (30-60 seconds).
  • Give the room a name: «Kitchen», «Bedroom», «Living room»…

Repeat for each plug. Important: WiFi must be 2.4 GHz (most home routers have it on by default).

Step 3: the app

With the plugs connected, open the Home tab. You’ll see each room and, within a few minutes, the first readings will appear: presence detected, last activity, wristband battery.

Now invite other caregivers (up to 5): go to Settings > Caregivers > Invite and enter their email. They’ll get a link to download the app and sign in with their own credentials.

Set up the alerts: choose the type (fall, SOS, prolonged absence, broken routine) and the schedule for each caregiver.

Test the system

Before you leave, do this simple test:

  • Press and hold the wristband’s side button for 3 seconds: it will send a test SOS. The alert should arrive on your phone in under 30 seconds.
  • Walk between the rooms where you’ve placed the plugs. The app will show the detected room changing.
  • Back in the app, confirm you see «Connected» on the wristband and on each plug.

If everything works, you’re done. The 30-day free trial started the moment you activated the first plug.

Common problems

A plug won’t connect to WiFi

Check that WiFi is 2.4 GHz and that you’re typing the password correctly (case matters). If that fails, hold the plug button for 10 seconds until the LED blinks quickly, and start step 2 again.

The wristband doesn’t light up when I press the button

Probably out of battery. Charge it with the magnetic charger for at least 1 hour. If it still doesn’t respond after charging, write to support@vitalkeep.com.

The app says «no data» after installing

Wait 5 minutes: the first sync takes a moment. If 10 minutes pass without readings, check that the plugs show a steady blue LED and that your phone has internet. Still not working? Contact us and we’ll sort it out with you over the phone.
